Ayurveda & Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are a mental disorder defined by abnormal eating behaviors that negatively affect a person's physical or mental health. 4% of the population are currently living with an eating disorder. This equates to approx 1 million Australians per year.
There are three talk therapies that are commonly used to work with eating disorder clients. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - Enhanced (CBTE), Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Theray (DBT).
Ayurveda can enhance these therapies by offering lifestyle and nutritional support. This course examines talk therapies with applied Ayurveda. This develops a client-centred, empowering approach to working with eating disorders.
